231004 WCLN Webinar “Featuring Candida auris: Coming soon to a healthcare facility near you!”

DESCRIPTION OF SESSION: This webinar will briefly introduce Candida auris and describe why it is a current public health concern. The concentration will be on two attributes that set C. auris apart from other Candida species; antifungal resistance and a propensity to spread through healthcare networks. The webinar will describe resources for detection, surveillance and antifungal susceptibility testing currently available through the CDC and the ARLN network. LEVEL OF INSTRUCTION: INTERMEDIATE: Refresher course; some basic knowledge required PROGRAM OBJECTIVES: At the end of the session, the participant will be able to: 1. Describe why Candida auris is currently a public health concern. 2. Explain the resources that are available for the identification and susceptibility testing of C. auris. 3. Discuss current testing and surveillance recommendations for C. auris in the US.
